Gold IRA Tax Rules

Affiliate Disclosure

Short version: if you open an account through a link on this site, we may earn a commission. It does not cost you anything, and it does not change a single rule we publish — the statute is the statute, whatever anyone earns.

What this site is

Gold IRA Tax Rules is an independent educational reference on the tax rules behind gold IRAs. We are not the IRS, we are not a law firm, we are not a dealer, and no dealer reviewed or influenced our content. The guides quote the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury regulations and IRS publications — sources anyone can check for free at irs.gov.

How we may earn money

Some pages may contain affiliate links to gold IRA companies. If you click one and open an account, the company may pay us a commission or a flat fee. When that happens, we mark it clearly before the link appears. At the time of the October 2026 update, the affiliate program onboarding is in progress; until it is live, our calls to action point only to our own guides.

What we refuse to do for money

  • No paid placement in guides, no sponsored posts, no "as seen on" badges.
  • No affiliate influence over the tax content: sources, check dates and corrections follow the methodology, not commercial relationships.
  • No promises of tax outcomes on a sponsor's behalf — "tax-free" and "penalty-free" appear only with the statute and the conditions that make them true.
  • No brand bidding in PPC and no statements on behalf of any company.

Why we can show you the same sources for free

The IRC and IRS publications are public domain. What you are paying for — indirectly, through commissions — is the verification work: reading the statute, dating the figures and explaining the mechanics in one place. If that trade ever stops being worth it for you, every rule we cite remains checkable at irs.gov.
